[05-13-2022] Kern County, CA – One Person Killed in Fatal DUI Collision in Bakersfield

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, one person is dead and another injured in a deadly DUI crash in Kern County Friday, May 13, 2022.

[05-13-2022] One Person Killed in Fatal DUI Collision in BakersfieldThe fatal collision occurred at 12:26 a.m. in Hughes and White lane in South H Street and Planz Road.

Officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision and observed a BMW driving recklessly, but they were unable to locate it.

They found the car after it collided with a Toyota Camry a short time later.

Officials say the BMW struck the Toyota after speeding through a red light.

The Toyota driver died at the scene after suffering serious injuries in the collision.

Christian V., 25, of Arvin, was the BMW driver who was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

According to the investigation, Valencia was driving under the influence of alcohol and a suspected controlled substance.

Valencia was arrested for DUI and vehicular homicide. He is still in the hospital and will be booked into the Kern County jail once released.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity at a later date.
