  • Seek immediate medical attention: Prioritize your health and safety by seeking medical help, even if you feel fine. Some injuries may not be immediately apparent, and it’s crucial to have a medical professional evaluate you.
  • Contact law enforcement: Dial 911 and report the accident to the police, providing them with as much information as possible, including the accident location and witness contact details.
  • Document the accident: Capture photos or videos of the scene, including any property damage or injuries sustained. This documentation can serve as valuable evidence for your case.
  • Consult a pedestrian accident lawyer: Contact an experienced pedestrian accident lawyer who can guide you through understanding your legal rights and options and work towards obtaining the compensation you deserve for your injuries and damages.
  • Notify your insurance company: Inform your insurance company about the accident promptly, even if you were not at fault.
Pedestrian Accident Statistics

Based on data provided by the Governors Highway Safety Association, there was a notable decrease of 14% in traffic accident fatalities between 2007 and 2016. However, during the same period, pedestrian deaths experienced a significant increase of 27%. This indicates a potential ongoing rise in the number of pedestrians injured or killed by vehicles.

In 2012, California witnessed a disturbing number of pedestrian fatalities and injuries resulting from car accidents, with 809 reported deaths and 14,000 injuries. This alarming trend demands immediate attention and raises concerns.

According to statistics from 2016, over 6,000 individuals lost their lives in traffic accidents across the United States, averaging approximately 88 deaths per minute. Around 137,000 injured individuals also required ambulance transportation to hospitals the following year. These figures highlight the seriousness of the issue and underscore the urgent need for preventive measures to address future accidents and fatalities.
