What To Do After A Bicycle Accident In Santa Barbara County, CA

If you’ve been in a bicycle accident, it’s important to stay calm and take the right steps to protect yourself. Here’s a simple guide on what to do after the crash:

  1. Make sure you’re okay. Look for any cuts, bruises, or pain. If you’re hurt, stay still and try not to move too much.
  2. If you can, move yourself and your bike away from traffic. It’s safer and easier for help to come.
  3. Call 911 or ask someone to call for you. Tell them about the accident and ask for medical help if needed.
  4. Talk to the driver or anyone else involved. Get their name, phone number, and insurance details. Also, get the names and contact info of any people who saw the accident.
  5. Use your phone to take pictures of the scene. This includes your bike, any damage, and your injuries. Pictures can help later when you report the accident.
  6. Even if you feel okay, go to the doctor. Some injuries can show up later, and a doctor can help make sure you’re not hurt.
  7. Call your insurance company and tell them about the accident. Be honest about what happened.
  8. If you’re injured, it’s a good idea to talk to a lawyer. They can explain your rights and help you understand what to do next.
