[05-19-2022] San Joaquin County, CA - Long Pursuit Ended in Multi-Vehicle Crash Injuring Two People in StocktonAccording to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, a 24-mile vehicle pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash injuring two people in Stockton Thursday, May 19, 2022.

The crash occurred before 4:00 p.m. in the rural eastern area of San Joaquin County back to east Stockton.

Deputies were investigating a commercial burglary on North Jack Tone Road in San Joaquin County’s easter region around 3:45 p.m. when they noticed a vehicle trespassing on the property.

The driver was driving a Chevy pickup truck when deputies noticed him making a quick u-turn on private property.

When deputies initiated a traffic stop, the pickup driver refused to yield, leading to a lengthy chase.

Deputies pursued the suspect for 24 miles through rural eastern San Joaquin County before returning to Stockton. The driver then drove onto railroad tracks near Roosevelt Street, damaging the pickup truck’s wheels.

The suspect fled but was apprehended by deputies. Scott H., 48, of Stockton, was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Hernandez is accused of causing two car accidents during the chase. Neither driver was seriously injured.

Witnesses also reported seeing Hernandez throw a bag containing 30 grams of methamphetamine out his window while driving. The bag was eventually found.

Hernandez was arrested on multiple felonies related to the chase and drugs and a felony warrant with no bail for vehicle theft, firearms, and drug charges.
