A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in a Palm Springs residential neighborhood on Sunday, May 22, 2022.

According to fire officials, responding emergency crews pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

The vehicle’s driver stayed at the scene and told investigators he was driving south on North Sunrise Way, south of Tamarisk Road, when he slammed into the tree.

The driver’s identity was not disclosed, and officials said the pedestrian’s identity was unknown.

The crash was not thought to be caused by drugs or alcohol.
