According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver was killed, and a child passenger was injured in a fatal crash that involved a suspected DUI driver in Sacramento on Thursday, May 26, 2022.
The crash occurred on a Thursday morning on Elise Ave and Power Inn Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a male driver of a white pickup truck was speeding when he ran a red light and collided with an SUV at the intersection of Elise Avenue and Power Inn Road.
The SUV, which was carrying two passengers, flipped over as a result of the collision.
The SUV driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the child passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries.
According to the CHP, the pickup driver fled on foot after good samaritans pulled him out of the vehicle.
The same Good Samaritans pursued him after he attempted to flee. They detained him and refused to let him leave until officers arrived.
CHP detained the driver after he was apprehended, and he is now being investigated for possible DUI and other charges.
The extent of the child’s and suspect’s injuries is unknown, and police have released no other information while they investigate the crash.
