Pedestrian Accident Statistics

When compared to people inside enclosed vehicles, pedestrians are more vulnerable to road hazards. Unlike those in cars, who have airbags and seatbelts, pedestrians have no type of protection that can avoid major damage.

Pedestrian deaths in the United States have become a big issue in recent years. Pedestrian deaths climbed by 27% between 2007 and 2016, while other traffic-related deaths decreased by 14%.

Every year, several pedestrians are injured and several are killed in accidents throughout California. Distracted driving, speeding, intoxicated driving, reckless driving, bad weather, wrong-way driving, and failure to obey traffic regulations are all factors in many of these pedestrian accidents.

As a pedestrian, you should obey traffic laws and heed signs and signals, walk on sidewalks wherever possible, and keep an eye out for cars entering or exiting driveways or backing up in parking lots. By doing these actions, you can protect yourself better from traffic accidents.
