Five people were injured following a seven-vehicle crash in Sacramento County on Friday afternoon, May 27, 2022.
The crash occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. at Jackson Slough Road in the Delta in Sacramento County.
The California Highway Patrol reported that seven vehicles were involved in the crash, including a big rig car transporter.
Authorities said one person suffered serious injuries and was flown to the hospital by a life flight. According to CHP, they were released from the hospital with only a broken arm.
Four other people with minor injuries were taken to local hospitals.
According to the CHP, there was stopped traffic in the eastbound lanes, with four vehicles lined up behind it.
According to CHP, the big rig car transporter failed to safely slow down and collided with the back of a white minivan, causing a chain reaction crash that involved three other vehicles.
The big rig then crossed into the westbound lane and collided with two more westbound cars.
After that, the big rig went off the road and down an embankment.
The crash is being investigated by the CHP in South Sacramento.
Drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor.

Sacramento County Car Accident Lawyers
A two-car collision is easier to prosecute because there are only two people involved. Collisions involving more than one vehicle are more difficult to deal with.
Who is to blame is more difficult to pin down. Many people could have been hurt if more than one vehicle had collided.
You may not want to put your faith in an insurance company if it is difficult to determine who was at fault in a multi-vehicle collision. Insurance companies put their own financial interests ahead of those of their customers, so don’t put your trust in a quick resolution to your claim.
