Fatal Pedestrian Accident Statistics
Based on data provided by the Governors Highway Safety Association, there was a notable decrease of 14% in total traffic accident fatalities from 2007 to 2016. However, during the same period, pedestrian deaths experienced a significant rise of 27%. This indicates a troubling upward trend in the number of pedestrians injured or killed by vehicles.
In 2012, California witnessed a disturbing number of pedestrian fatalities and injuries resulting from car accidents, with 809 reported deaths and 14,000 injuries. This concerning pattern demands immediate attention and raises serious concerns.
Statistics from 2016 reveal that over 6,000 individuals died in traffic accidents across the United States, equating to an average of approximately 88 deaths per minute. Furthermore, the following year saw around 137,000 injured individuals requiring ambulance transportation to hospitals.
These figures underscore the seriousness of the issue and the urgent need for proactive measures to address future accidents and reduce fatalities.
