[06-03-2023] Siskiyou County, CA – Two People Killed, Five Others Injured Following Two-Vehicle Crash in Yreka

Two people were killed, and five others were injured following a two-vehicle crash in Yreka on Saturday evening, June 3, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:25 p.m. along State Route 3, south of Forest Mountain Summit.

The crash reportedly occurred when a Ford Pickup traveling downward on SR-3 South momentarily veered off the roadway. The truck allegedly attempted to swerve back onto the roadway but spun into oncoming traffic instead.

The truck’s right side collided with the front of a Honda Pilot carrying one adult driver and four juvenile occupants. The Ford driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, whereas the Honda Pilot’s five occupants were transported to Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka.

Officials added that the Honda driver and three juvenile passengers sustained major injuries, while the fourth juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries. The identities of the deceased have not been disclosed, and it is uncertain whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.

CHP Yreka said the crash is still being investigated and asked anyone with information to contact them at 530-842-0530.
