According to the San Diego Police Department, at approximately 12:36 a.m., a 54-year-old man driving a 2023 GMC Yukon was traveling northbound in the 800 block of 5th Avenue when a pedestrian crossed against the red light and into the truck’s path.

Authorities said the pedestrian, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rushed to the hospital and treated for a potentially fatal brain bleed, and his condition is currently unknown. Officials further stated that alcohol didn’t play a role in the collision.
