[06-05-2023] Riverside County, CA – 22-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Metrolink Train in Santa Fe Railroad

A 22-year-old man named Samuel L. was struck and killed by a Metrolink train on Palmyrita Avenue, Riverside, on Monday evening, June 5, 2023.

According to the Riverside Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. west of Palmyrita Avenue, near Iowa Avenue.

The report said Lissy of Riverside was struck while walking along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, no passengers on the commuter train were harmed.

The exact cause of the incident remained undetermined. The tracks had to be closed for over an hour following the fatality.

The investigation is ongoing.
