[06-06-2023] Riverside County, CA – Fatal DUI Vehicle Collision in Coachella Claims One Life and Leaves Another Injured

One individual was killed, while another was injured after a DUI two-vehicle collision in Coachella on Tuesday evening, June 6, 2023.

According to the Coachella Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 8:14 p.m. at Avenue 51 and Chiapas Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies found two individuals inside a vehicle with significant injuries and wasted no time commencing life-saving interventions. The driver of the second vehicle’s involved in the crash emerged without any harm.

Regrettably, one of the injured individuals tragically passed away at the scene due to their injuries, while the other was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for additional medical care.

The driver of one of the vehicles, identified as Antonio L., a 38-year-old resident of Coachella, displayed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested.

Leon faces charges including operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, violating probation, felony driving under the influence, causing injury, and murder. He has been booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
