According to authorities, a pedestrian was killed in a fatal collision on Highway 99 near Highway 152 in Madera County on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.
According to Madera area California Highway Patrol Officer Javier R., the officers responded at about 2:40 a.m. to the area of southbound Highway 99 just south of Highway 152.
Officers arrived on the scene and discovered an adult male on the highway’s west shoulder.
According to authorities, the man apparently ran into the road and was hit by a big rig.
According to the CHP, the big rig was traveling south on Highway 99 in the No. 2 lane when the pedestrian ran in front of it, and the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian.
According to Ruvalcaba, the pedestrian was thrown to the west shoulder of southbound Highway 99 during the collision.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The big rig driver cooperated with authorities, and drugs or alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
There are no other details available.
The crash remains under investigation.
