[06-08-2022] Shasta County, CA - One Dead, Another One Suffered Major Injury in Fiery Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 299According to The California Highway Patrol, one was dead and another critically injured after a fiery two-vehicle crash on Highway 299 Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

The crash transpired just after 10:00 a.m. west of the Whiskeytown Visitor Center.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an F-150 driver was traveling east when he crossed the lines and collided with a semi-truck around 7:40 a.m.

The semi-truck caught fire after that, but the driver escaped unharmed.

According to the CHP, the F-150’s driver, Charles French of Redding, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. In French’s truck, a passenger died.

The fire did not spread to vegetation, according to CALFIRE.

The CHP is looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
