[06-09-2023] Sutter County, CA – Tragic DUI Collision on Highway 99 Claims Lives of 21-Year-Old and Infant, Leaves Other Victims Seriously Injured

A 21-year-old woman and an infant were killed, while others were injured in a DUI head-on collision on Highway 99 in Sutter County on Friday night, June 9, 2023.

According to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, the collision involving multiple vehicles occurred at Highway 99 and Pease Road.

Before the fatal accident, the driver believed to have been impaired by drugs or alcohol was engaged in a previous collision in Live Oak. They then proceeded south on Highway 99, resulting in the subsequent head-on collision with the victims’ vehicle.

Officials have identified the casualties as Allyson S., a Gridley resident, and a one-year-old infant girl. Additionally, a male passenger suffered severe injuries and was transported to UC Davis Medical Center for medical care.

Furthermore, a third vehicle collided with one of the cars involved, causing minor injuries to one occupant.

The driver suspected of causing the accidents sustained only minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
