[06-12-2022] San Bernardino County, CA - Pedestrians Killed and Another in Critical Condition After Hit-and-Run in HesperiaA woman is dead, and a man remains in critical condition after both being struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene in Hesperia on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

The crash transpired at about 4:15 a.m., along a residential area of Cottonwood Avenue, north of Sycamore Street.

According to a Sheriff’s news release, a 29-year-old female pedestrian had fallen onto the roadway of Cottonwood Avenue, and a 32-year-old male attempted to assist her out of the roadway.

The male and female pedestrians were struck by the vehicle in the southbound lane of Cottonwood Avenue.

The driver fled the scene of the crash and was last seen traveling southbound on Cottonwood Avenue.

Despite life-saving measures, the female pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene by emergency personnel.

The male pedestrian was transported to a trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.

Identification of the 29-year-old female is pending notification of next of kin.

At this time, it has not been determined if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor.
