One kayaker was killed and missing, while four others were rescued after a boat accident in Kern River, Tulare County, on Wednesday evening, June 14, 2023.
According to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred before 5:30 p.m. at Kern River in the Ant River Canyon area near Kernville.
The report said that five kayakers lost their equipment due to the river’s strong currents, causing them to fall out of their raft.
The deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office have identified the kayakers as three males and two females. Additionally, they have confirmed that a missing individual is one of the males.
They are actively working to recover the body of the confirmed deceased person.
The investigation is ongoing.
