[06-16-2023] Fresno County, CA – 35-Year-Old Female Passenger Killed, 45-Year-Old Driver Injured After DUI Solo-Vehicle Crash Near Sanger

A female passenger was killed while the driver was injured following a DUI solo-vehicle crash west of Sanger on Friday afternoon, June 16, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred in the area of Jensen and Del Rey Avenues that afternoon.

The driver was said to have veered into the center median and overturned into the far right shoulder of the road in an attempt to regain control.

Officers of the CHP found the female passenger ejected from a Dodge Charger. She was immediately taken to the hospital but did not survive. The victim was identified as Ofelia S., 35, from Fresno.

The injured driver was trapped in the vehicle and was rescued by fire department officers. Identified by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office as Michelle V., 45, from Fresno, she was arrested for DUI manslaughter.
