At least one person was killed in a head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 58 near Tehachapi on Wednesday afternoon, June 18, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 1:33 p.m. on eastbound Highway 58 near the Highway 202 interchange. One of the vehicles involved was identified as a Jeep.
CHP reported that the crash involved a driver traveling in the wrong direction. The Kern County Coronerโs Office, along with animal control, was called to the scene.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased or confirmed which vehicle was traveling the wrong way.
Traffic in the area was diverted to the right-hand shoulder. The incident remains under investigation.
