According to the authorities, a woman from Merced died after a two-vehicle collision on the city’s west side on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Zuniga, the collision occurred at around 12:35 at the intersection of Cooper Avenue and Ashby Road.
According to the authorities, Ashlie R., 22, of Fresno, was attempting to make a right turn onto Cooper Avenue while driving a car west on Ashby Road at an unknown speed.
Her car collided with a 2019 Volkswagen being operated by Merced resident Heintz G., 85, as he attempted to make the turn. On Cooper Avenue, facing south toward Ashby Road, the Volkswagen was halted at a stop sign.
According to Zuniga, the Volkswagen flipped as a result of the collision. The Volkswagen’s front passenger seat, where a 75-year-old woman was sitting, was where she was pronounced dead.
Resendes and Guth were both transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment after sustaining minor injuries in the collision.
According to Zuniga, the collision doesn’t appear to have been caused by either alcohol or drugs.
The crash remains under investigation.
