[06-23-2022] Kern County, CA - 64-Year-Old Motorcyclist Ejected and Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in BakersfieldAccording to the California Highway Patrol, a two-vehicle head-on collision between a vehicle and motorcycle has killed at least one person on Highway 178 in the canyon Thursday, June 23, 2022.

According to CHP officials, the collision occurred at around 6:27 p.m. on Highway 178 east of Democrat Road.

According to a release by the Coroner’s Office, the victim of this collision was identified as Mario C., 64-year-old, driving a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Highway 178 east of Democrat Road.

Another driver, Los Banos, California, resident Yates B., 49, was driving a 2010 Ford Edge and headed west on Highway 178 east of Democrat Rd. at around 35 to 40 miles per hour.

For unknown reasons, the Motorcyclist veered left and crossed over a set of double yellow lines, crashing into the left side of the Ford Edge.

The impact ejected the rider from his motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic was briefly closed at the mouth of the canyon for investigators.
