An unidentified woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in South San Jose on a Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2022.
According to the San Jose Police, the crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of Capitol Expressway and Monterey Road.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the pedestrian was struck by the driver of a 2018 International truck pulling a trailer as he made a left turn from southbound Monterey Road onto the westbound Capitol Expressway on-ramp.
According to investigators, the pedestrian was in a clearly marked crosswalk but crossed against a red traffic signal while the truck had the green light.
The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene after sustaining severe injuries.
Her family will be notified before her identity is publicly disclosed.
The driver, according to police, stayed at the scene and assisted with the investigation.
The driver didn’t seem to have any alcohol or drug use issues.
