[06-23-2023] Santa Barbara County, CA – Two People Hospitalized After Car Slammed into Big-Rig Truck on Highway 101 in Santa Maria

A driver and a passenger were injured and hospitalized after colliding with a tractor-trailer in Santa Maria on Friday Morning, June 23, 2023.

Santa Maria firefighters, California Highway Patrol officers, and American Medical Response personnel were dispatched to the scene where the accident happened on Highway 101 near the northbound Donovan Road offramp shortly after 4:00 a.m.

The Nissan Infiniti reportedly crashed into the rear end of a tractor-trailer carrying cooking oil that did not spill after the collision.

The two occupants of the vehicle, one sustaining significant injuries, were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center. In contrast, the big rig driver was unharmed. No other information is available about the identities of the people involved.
