Rollover Car Accident Statistics
One in three people who die in car accidents is involved in rollovers, which can occur when a car flips over onto its roof or sides.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rollovers account for nearly 35% of all vehicle fatalities yearly despite making up just 2.1 percent of all crashes.
Rollover crashes have a higher fatality rate than most other car accidents due to their violent nature. Rollover accidents can injure or kill passengers in different ways, including traumatic brain injury in car accidents and wrongful death in truck accidents.
In 2010, rollover accidents claimed the lives of more than 7,600 people.
69% of the people thrown from the vehicle were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
People continue to ignore the dangers of being in a moving vehicle without a seatbelt, despite all the warnings and increasing fatalities.
