Multi-Vehicle Accident Statistics

The risk of a car accident is higher in California than in any other state, mainly because of the high density of vehicles on the road. Whether you’re driving a car, motorcycle, bus, or any other vehicle, you could be involved in a multi-vehicle accident if you’re not careful.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Fatality and Injury Reporting System Tool data, an average of 3,322 residents are killed yearly, increasing the fatality rate by 33% from 2010 to 2019.

Two or more vehicles traveling in the same direction can come into close contact, causing one or both vehicles to be damaged. This can result in serious injuries for everyone involved and may even cause fatalities.

You can do several things to reduce your chances of being involved in a multi-vehicle accident. First, avoid following too closely behind another vehicle. Second, keep an eye out for emergency vehicles and drive slowly in their vicinity. Finally, if you see an emergency vehicle approaching, slow down and move over to the right side of the road as far as possible before stopping completely. These simple steps can help you avoid becoming a multi-vehicle accident victim.
