According to California Highway Patrol officials, a man died, and a woman was seriously injured in a head-on two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 Monday evening, June 27, 2022.
According to CHP, the crash occurred at about 6:26 p.m. in the Redwood Valley area north of Ukiah, just south of the West Road exit.
The identity of the deceased man was kept private by the authorities. He was identified as 36 years old and a resident of Burbank, a city in Southern California.
According to a CHP report, a Burbank man driving a Toyota Prius north on the highway crossed the center median and into oncoming traffic.
The Toyota collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in a southbound lane.
According to the CHP, the Jeep’s female driver was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with serious wounds. Her companion suffered no harm.
According to the report, CHP investigators are investigating the cause of the collision but have not ascertained whether the Toyota’s driver was intoxicated.
