[06-28-2023] Riverside County, CA – 1 Person Killed, Another Hospitalized After DUI Head-On Collision near Desert Hot Springs

A person was killed, while another was hospitalized with serious injuries after a DUI head-on collision near Desert Hot Springs, as reported on Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Indian Canyon Drive, near State Route 62, around 2:21 p.m.

A 42-year-old Victorville man drove his Ford Fiesta across the double solid yellow lines into the opposite lane and right into the path of a 2007 Honda Civic driven by a 49-year-old Nuevo man, resulting in a fatal head-on collision.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ford driver was brought to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved. Both parties were said to have been wearing their seatbelt during the collision.

Both sides of Indian Canyon Drive were shut down, with no word on when they might reopen.
