[07-02-2022] Santa Barbara County, CA - One Person Dead in Two-Vehicle Crash on OrcuttAccording to a California Highway Patrol, one person died in a two-vehicle collision on Orcutt Saturday, July 2, 2022.

According to a CHP news release, the crash occurred at 11:13 p.m. northbound on Highway 1 at the intersection of SR 135 at a high rate of speed.

The organization reported that a Nissan Sentra was approaching the intersection of State Route 135 while moving northbound on Highway 1 at 65 mph.

According to the CHP, the Honda Civic collided with the Nissan, causing left-rear intrusion damage and fatal injuries to the occupant of the back seat.

According to the press release, the Honda Civic rolled but landed on its wheels in the median, while the Nissan swayed to the right shoulder.

The CHP reports that the Honda’s driver got out into the southbound lanes and was hit by a GMC Yukon that was coming up behind him.

The Honda driver sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision, according to the CHP.

According to the press release, alcohol or drug impairment was not a factor in the evaluation of the surviving parties that took place on the scene.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
