Two people were hospitalized after a jet ski collision in Woodward Reservoir, Stanislaus County, early Sunday evening, July 02, 2023.

According to the Modesto Fire Department, the collision happened around 6:08 p.m. at Woodward Reservoir Regional Park, north of Oakdale.

Two jet skis reportedly collided with each other, involving two people. One of them was taken to a local hospital after sustaining minor injuries, while the other refused to be treated.

The authorities have not yet released further information about the collision.

The California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways reported that the Northern California region experienced 266 boating accidents, resulting in 150 injuries and 36 fatalities in 2016. Compared to last year, there was a 20% increase in accidents, a 35% increase in damages, and a 20% increase in deaths.

Accidents increased in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, Northern Lakes, Northern Coastal Waters, and San Francisco Bay Area. Only Northern Rivers experienced a decrease in accidents between 2015 and 2016.
