One man was killed following a two-vehicle crash in San Jose on Saturday afternoon, July 8, 2023.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident that occurred on Highway 237, just west of First Street, at about 5:09 p.m.
On eastbound Highway 237, a 47-year-old male driving a 2004 Honda Civic began to drift to the left while in the far-left lane. He then struck the median, sending it across all lanes of traffic to the right. The vehicle left the road and collided with a concrete barrier at the edge.
The vehicle veered again to the left and struck a 52-year-old man’s Toyota Tundra. The Honda stopped after striking the center median a second time, while the Toyota stopped on the roadway.
The Honda driver, reportedly from Los Altos, was transported to the hospital with significant injuries. He was later pronounced dead, while the Toyota driver was reportedly uninjured. The authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the people involved.
There was no evidence that alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision. Authorities are still conducting their investigation.
