[07-09-2022] Tehama County, CA - Pedestrian Woman Critically Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle in CorningAccording to the Corning Police Department, a 41-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after she was hit by a vehicle in Corning on Saturday night.

According to the Police, the crash occurred just before 10:00 p.m. a 23-year-old man was driving a black Kia Forte southbound on Highway 99 West.

Near the western boundary of the 900 block of Highway 99 West, the woman was pushing a shopping cart. According to police, she veered into the southbound lanes of traffic for an unknown reason before being struck by the car.

According to the police, the man was going to the speed limit but could not avoid the collision.

The woman was struck by the car, which sent her flying over the hood and into the windshield on the passenger side, according to the police.

She touched down on the west side of Highway 99 West. The patient underwent surgery after being rushed to the hospital. She reportedly had several lacerations and a possible spinal injury, according to police.

She is in critical but stable condition, according to the police.

The crash is still under investigation.
