The National Safety Council has reported a significant rise in railway-related deaths in 2021. The fatalities reached 893, marking a 20% increase compared to the 744 deaths in 2020 and representing the highest number of fatalities since 2007.
Additionally, there was an increase in non-fatal injuries, with 5,781 reported cases in 2021, reflecting a 4% rise from the previous year’s 5,544 cases.
