According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was killed, and a mother and her three children were injured after two vehicles collided head-on two-vehicle collision on Foresthill Road in Placer County Tuesday afternoon, July 12, 2022.
The fatal head-on crash occurred about 3:00 p.m. on Foresthill Road, just west of Drivers Flat Road in Foresthill, several miles northeast of Auburn.
According to Officer David Martinez, a spokesman for the CHP Auburn Area Office, a 43-year-old Foresthill man was driving a green Toyota Corolla west on Foresthill, and the mother was driving a blue Acura MBX east on the same road, and the vehicles crashed head-on.
Martinez said investigators were still trying to determine who was at fault, the speed of the vehicles and whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
The Foresthill man was pronounced dead at the scene. Martinez said there was no one else in the car with him.
The Placer County Coroner’s Office will release his name after his family has been notified.
The crash is still under investigation.
Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision Statistics
Every 60 seconds, someone in the country has a car accident. This isn’t surprising because millions of cars drive across U.S. roads every day.
With so many cars on the same roads, there will be traffic jams, gridlock, and (most importantly) car accidents, both fatal accidents and those that cause severe injuries.
The number of people who die or get hurt in car accidents in the United States has gone up a lot over time. According to the National Safety Council (NSC), around 38,000 people were killed in car accidents across the United States in 2019.
These car accidents happen for various reasons, but the most common ones are when people drink and drive, aren’t paying attention, speed, or don’t follow road rules at all.
