[07-12-2023] Nevada County, CA – Two People Hospitalized, One Injured Following Three-Vehicle Collision in Grass Valley

Two people were hospitalized, and another was injured following a collision involving three vehicles in Grass Valley on Wednesday afternoon, July 12, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident around 1:00 p.m. on Highway 20, east of Dorsey Drive.

As traffic slowed to a stop-and-go pace, a Ford F350 could not slow down and rear-ended a Subaru Outback. The Subaru then rear-ended a Chevrolet Astro van and veered across the lane, colliding with the dividing wall at the center. The Chevrolet was pushed to the right shoulder as the Subaru and Ford came to a stop and blocked both traffic lanes.

The Subaru driver, a Hispanic or Caucasian in his mid-20s or early 30s and identified only as Luciano, sustained significant injuries and was transported to the Sutter Roseville Medical Center in Roseville. Officials said his vehicle had expired and out-of-date license plates from Oregon, and the driver had no contact information in Nevada County.

Both drivers of the Chevrolet and Ford sustained minor injuries. They were identified as Michele B., 71, who was not taken to the hospital, and Aaron C., who was taken to the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

The investigating authorities are ruling out the possibility that drugs and alcohol contributed to the crash. They ask anyone with information to contact the police.
