At least one person was killed, and another individual sustained injury following a five-vehicle collision that caused another 10-vehicle crash on Highway 880 in Oakland on Thursday morning, July 13, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the initial crash occurred around 1:40 a.m., while the second collision was reported at about 3:42 a.m., north of the 66th Avenue off-ramp.
The CHP reported that the 10-vehicle collision followed the fatal crash involving five vehicles in the same area earlier that morning. The details of both collisions were not immediately available.
Sadly, at least one person was killed and another was injured in the first collision. No updates were released on the possible injuries in the second crash.
A witness described being hit by a fast-moving car while her vehicle was at a dead stop. Fortunately, the roadway has been cleared following the incidents.
The investigation is ongoing.
