[07-15-2022] Stanislaus County, CA - One Person Dead, Another Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash near NewmanAccording to the California Highway Patrol, one person died, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash, their car collided with a big rig outside of Newman Friday morning, July 15, 2022.

According to the CHP news release, the deadly collision occurred at 10:24 a.m. at West Stuhr and Eastin Roads.

The 2015 Toyota, driven by Rachel N., 22, of Riverbank, was traveling south on Stuhr Road when it came to a stop at the intersection just before Daniel F., 58, of Los Banos, was traveling east on Stuhr in a Peterbilt tractor-trailer, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP stated that Stuhr does not have a stop sign at the intersection.

According to the CHP, the Toyota’s right side was struck by the front of the Peterbilt. The collision threw the Toyota off the road, where it turned over before coming to rest on its wheels.

Unidentified female Toyota passenger, whose name, age, and hometown were not made public, passed away due to injuries received in the collision.

Norton suffered severe wounds and had to be transported by helicopter to Doctors Medical Center. According to the CHP, Forte was unharmed.

All passengers were wearing seat belts. Authorities are still unsure whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
