A female passenger was killed, while four others were injured after a two-vehicle head-on collision involving a suspected DUI driver in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, on Sunday morning, July 16, 2023.
According to Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Jeremy M., the incident occurred at Saticoy Street and Sepulveda Boulevard, near the San Diego Freeway, at around 3:45 a.m.
A white Mustang was traveling westbound on Saticoy Street at high speeds when it lost control and veered to the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a gray Audi. The occupants of the vehicles were trapped and had to be extricated by the first responders.
A 21-year-old female passenger in the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene, while four other victims–an 11-year-old girl, a 30-year-old female, and two 21-year-old men–sustained severe injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
Fortunately, the four survivors are expected to survive. No details were released on their identities.
Drugs or alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
