According to preliminary information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision occurred at 11:38 p.m. on the eastbound 134 Freeway just west of Figueroa Street.
Authorities responded quickly to the scene and discovered the gray Hyundai Veloster that had struck the pedestrian.
According to reports, the driver thought they had hit a large animal. It is unclear whether the pedestrian died at the scene or a nearby hospital.
The accident is still being investigated.
