Fatal Car Crash Statistics
A shocking number of people in California are killed each year in single-vehicle accidents.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 62% of all traffic fatalities in California are caused by single-vehicle accidents. There are a number of potential sources of distraction while driving in California.
A single-car crash can be caused by many different things. A runaway vehicle or an off-road accident are both more likely to occur when traveling at high speeds or making sharp turns on a slippery road. A large branch or something that fell off a truck’s bed could be lying in the road.
Even if the single-car accident is caused by something other than your or another driver’s negligence, your insurance policy’s comprehensive coverage plan will likely limit your recovery.

While most people who are injured in car accidents can’t return to work or school, reckless driving is still a crime, even if the death of another person is the result. When someone dies in a car crash due to another driver’s negligence, their families can file a wrongful death claim with the other driver’s insurance company.
Witnesses at depositions and trials often have to testify in front of a large crowd while suffering through the pain of remembering their losses and suffering. Some people’s mental health can suffer because of pending legal matters.
Immediate action is required to hold a driver accountable for a car accident. When carelessness causes a large number of deaths, responsibility must be taken. Although filing a lawsuit for wrongful death can be a lot of work, it can be worth it for families who have lost loved ones. There will be far-reaching effects of this decision on California drivers.
