[07-17-2022] San Diego County, CA - Two-Vehicle Collision Results One Pedestrian Died in East CountyA 28-year-old San Diego resident was struck and died after he exited his vehicle, resulting in a two-vehicle collision on a freeway in East County on Sunday, July 17, 2022.

The accident happened at around 2:30 a.m. on state Route 94 eastbound, west of Spring Street.

According to CHP, the pedestrian got out, was in the No. 1 lane of the freeway, and was pronounced dead on the scene. Once the family is informed, they will announce his name.

The local authorities did not reveal the identity of the 27-year-old driver of the 2013 Hyundai Elantra. He was detained due to suspicion of a DUI.

The crash remains under investigation.
