[07-17-2024] San Joaquin County, CA – Bicyclist Killed After Collision with Chevrolet Silverado on Santa Fe Rd.

A man riding a bike died after being struck by a vehicle from behind just north of Riverbank in San Joaquin County on Wednesday morning, July 17, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Santa Fe Road, south of Hall Road.

The bicyclist was riding southbound when a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling at about 50 mph, approached from behind and collided with him. The driver did not see the cyclist for reasons that remain unclear.

The impact caused the bicycle tire to dislodge and strike a northbound 2023 Ford. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the two vehicles were not injured, and DUI is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
