[07-27-2023] San Diego County, CA – Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision in Chula Vista Claims One Life, Leaves Another Severely Injured

One person was severely injured, while a motorcyclist was killed after a two-vehicle collision in Chula Vista on Thursday evening, July 27, 2023.

The Chula Vista Police Department reported the incident around 6:30 p.m. near Palomar Street and 5th Avenue.

Upon reaching the scene, authorities discovered the motorcyclist suffering from severe traumatic injuries. He was immediately transported to the UCSD Medical Center and pronounced dead.

According to the CVPD, the driver of the involved vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries considered serious but not life-threatening.

Initial findings and witness accounts indicate the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the other vehicle, which was turning on Palomar Street’s 400 block.

Authorities believe no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol being a contributing factor.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has not disclosed the identity of the deceased motorcyclist.

The incident remains under investigation.
