Two people were hospitalized following two separate crashes in Nicolaus, Sutter County, on Thursday morning, July 27, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on the northbound lanes of State Route 70 near Nicolaus Avenue that morning.
The first crash occurred on the highway about 37 miles north of Sacramento. Upon seeing the crash, a US Marshal attempted to turn around to help, but he was struck by another vehicle.
Two people sustained minor injuries and were treated at the local hospital. It is unclear which vehicle the victims occupied or what caused the first crash.
No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved, pending an investigation.
