[07-27-2026] Sacramento County, CA – Two Injured In Multi-Vehicle Collision Involving Box Truck on I-80

Two people were injured after a box truck collided with multiple vehicles and fell from an elevated roadway in Sacramento on Monday, July 27, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident began when a box truck traveling westbound on Interstate 80 collided with two vehicles before continuing toward the northbound Interstate 5 transition.

Authorities said the box truck then struck the center median guardrail and went off an elevated section of I-5, landing on San Juan Road below.

Sacramento Fire crews extricated the box truck driver, who was transported to a trauma facility with major injuries. Another person involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment.

The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
