A 12-year-old female paddleboarder was killed after being struck by a jet ski in San Diego on Monday afternoon, July 29, 2023.
The San Diego Police Department responded to the accident in the De Anza Cove area in Mission Bay at around 2:00 p.m.
The 18-year-old male from Bellflower was riding his jet ski when he collided with the paddleboarder, causing injuries to the latter.
The first responders performed CPR on the victim when she was brought to the shore. The patient was treated at a local hospital but died shortly after that.
No other information was released about the identities of the people involved. As the investigation continues, alcohol is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash.

Fatal Boating Accident Statistics
