[07-29-2023] Santa Maria Fiery Head-On Crash Between Motorcycle and Car Killed One Person, Injured AnotherOne person was killed, while another was injured after a fiery, head-on collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle in Santa Maria on Saturday evening, July 29, 2023.

The  Santa Barbara County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to the accident on the 9100 block of Highway 166 in front of Chimineas Ranch around 6:45 p.m.

What led to the crash is unknown, but one person was trapped in a black Subaru after colliding head-on with a motorcycle. The Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital received one critical injury victim from the Calstar medical helicopter responding to the incident.

The fire engulfed the involved motorcycle off the roadway. The flames blackened two to three acres of vegetation on a hillside in the area. Firefighters on the ground were being aided by the Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit helicopter.

There was no information about whether the deceased and injured person were occupants of the motorcycle or vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

While the investigation into the crash continues, the identities of the people involved were not released.
