[07-29-2025] Fresno County, CA – Worker Killed After Being Pinned Inside Overturned Excavator at Academy Quarry

A worker was killed after being pinned inside an excavator at Academy Quarry on Tollhouse Road in Fresno County on Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 8:00 a.m. following reports of an injured individual at the quarry.

Authorities said the excavator was loading rock into a dump truck when it overturned. The cab of the excavator landed on the boulder, pinning the operator inside.

Firefighters responded and worked to free the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials stated that the fatal injuries were caused when the excavator overturned and made contact with the boulder. The victim was later identified as a Los Banos father of four.

The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.
