Truck Collision Statistics

The trucking industry in the United States continues to grow, despite newer and faster modes of transportation being developed regularly. 70 percent of them are transported by truck to get goods across the country.

There are many different types of trucks on the road today. Some are designed specifically to transport frozen goods, while others handle a wide range of different and smaller loads for local transportation.

Whatever the case, trucking has gained a bad reputation over the years, especially in the last two decades, due to the large number of reckless drivers who operate such large vehicles. In the United States, it’s expected to be the fifth leading cause of death by 2030.

Many Americans across the country view this as their primary and lucrative income source. For this reason, it’s a good idea to learn about the most common reasons for accidents, the statistics resulting from them, and the best practices for making the world safer.

A truck’s mobility is affected by its large tank body. It is also possible that a tanker truck transporting liquid will move due to the sloshing.

As a result of these and other factors, trucks require a much longer distance to come to a complete stop than cars. Almost all trucks have air brakes, which use pressure to increase the braking force on board. Using air brakes properly is important to prevent a truck from jack-knifing. The steering, control, and stopping distance can all be affected if the brake system is out of balance.

Most of the time, the truck driver, their employer, and truck manufacturers can be responsible for the accident. The trucking company may be liable for the driver’s negligence if they are an employee of the business or if the driver was negligently hired or supervised.

On the other hand, the truck manufacturer may be liable if you can prove a defect in the truck caused the accident. Do not hesitate to contact our Sacramento County truck lawyers at Arash Law if you have been involved in a similar accident.
