[08-04-2022] Fresno County, CA - One Person Dead After Two-Vehicle Head-on Collision South of FirebaughAccording to the California Highway Patrol, one person is dead after a head-on two-vehicle collision between a Hyundai and a Freightliner hauling tomatoes Wednesday evening, August 4, 2022.

The collision occurred at about 9:50 p.m. in the area of Highway 33 and Shaw Avenue south of Firebaugh.
According to police, the Freightliner hauling tomatoes was traveling in the opposite direction from the Hyundai, which was being driven by a woman in her 30s and traveling south on Highway 33.

According to CHP, the Hyundai swerved into the path of the Freightliner head-on for an unknown reason, causing the driver to be ejected.

The Hyundai’s female driver was confirmed dead on the spot. The 60-year-old Freightliner driver was unharmed in the collision.
The accident is still being looked into. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be at play.
